After discussion among student groups and the community, the Archbold Area School Board of Education has approved a drug-testing policy for its students. This drug testing will commence this fall, with the number of students to be tested each session still to be determined. This move toward drug testing was first initiated by high school students in the Archbold district. Testing will include any extra-curricular participants, from pep band to athletics.
The Archbold Board also approved insurance coverage for liability, vehicle, and property, at a cost of just under $45,000 for the next year.
In personnel action, the board approved two new teachers for the coming school year at Archbold: Courtney Froehlich (fray-lick) in elementary music, and Dana Hilfinger in middle school English. And the Archbold board accepted the resignation of Jessica Badenhop as an elementary title-one reading teacher.
Ben Gericke (gair-i-kee) was named a varsity basketball assistant coach; and Allied Paving was hired to tackle a paving project for the elementary and high school parking lots, at a cost of just under $27,000.
