The newest administrator in the HolgateSchool District was approved by the board of education Thursday evening.  Cassandra Hemmelgarn, a Coldwater native, was awarded a two-year contract as principal of the high school and middle school at Holgate.    Hemmelgarn and her husband have two children, and reside in Waterville.   She has 7 years of teaching experience at McComb.

The Holgate Board reviewed the numbers from their three years of shared service with Patrick Henry for a school treasurer.   That figure was nearly $107,000 in savings over that span, with Lisa Shanks continuing that role at Holgate only in the years ahead.

A 9-passenger van for the school was purchased at a cost of about $42,000.

And the Holgate board reviewed results from the Ohio Achievement Assessment, which indicated students had met 12 of the 14 state criteria from grades 3 through 8.   But in the 3rd grade reading guarantee, Holgate had a 100% passage rate- one of only two districts in the state to achieve that mark.

In other personnel action; the Holgate board approved Christine Goolsby as an elementary teacher; while Desiree Johnson and Sondra Haase (hays) were approved as cafeteria employees.
