SCHOOL THREATS LEAD TO ARRESTS IN NW OHIO

In the wake of the deadly shootings in the Florida school in the past week, there is serious tone to any type of threats being made in educational settings.    Two such threats were made in area schools on Wednesday.

At the Defiance Middle School, a 14 year old male juvenile made threatening comments.  There was no immediate threat to students or staff; but after consultation, the prosecutor’s office is filing charges of Inducing Panic, Menacing, and more.  The teen was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center of Northwest Ohio.

In Wauseon, a high school student made threatening comments before a class, and it was reported to the office.  The youth admitted to the comments, and was removed in handcuffs from Wauseon High School.  A search of the students locker and personal belongings revealed no weapons or dangerous items, so no lockdown occurred.
