OHIO AMONG LOWEST IN REGION FOR BACHELOR'S DEGREES

The Great Lakes Region trails the national average when it comes to residents that have earned a bachelor’s degree in college.  The U.S. average for residents with at least a bachelor’s degree is 32%.   Ohio ranked as one of the lowest in the region at 28% of its residents with a bachelor’s.  Michigan had 29.1% of its residents earn that degree.  Indiana was just under 27%, Pennsylvania at 31.4, and Illinois and Minnesota topped the region, with 34.4% earning a bachelor’s degree in Illinois.  Minnesota was #1 in the region at just over 36%.             The lowest rate of state residents with four-years of college was West Virginia at just over 20%, and Kentucky at 24%.
