Carrie Underwood Says Son Isaiah Is ‘So Helpful’ As A Big Brother

Carrie Underwood gave birth to her second son, Jacob, when her oldest son, Isaiah, was almost 4-years-old.

Now, Isaiah is approaching 5-years-old and is getting the big brother thing down. Underwood says he’s “doing great” as an older sibling and has been “really helpful” taking care of his little brother.

“Being almost 5 years old, he’s just so helpful, and looks out for his little brother,” the country star shared with People. “And he’s good at [obliging] when you ask him to do something; he’s a very task-oriented child. So if you ask him to do something, he wants to feel helpful and he wants to do it and be a part of things.”

The "Drinking Alone" singer recently opened up about her struggle to get her body back to normal after Jacob's birth. She says it was frustrating because it wasn't as easy as the first time around after having Isaiah.

"After having my first kid, I felt like I bounced back fast. And then with Jake, it was like my body took a minute to get back to me," Underwood revealed. "It was frustrating, because I'm like, 'Why wasn't it like the first time?'"

While nutritional intake and physical activity were an important part of the process, Underwood ultimately realized she had to change her thought process when it came to seeing results.

"But I’m four years older. That also helped me shift my mindset," Underwood added. "I’m still working hard, wanting to be the best me possible, but cutting myself slack and just thinking, ‘Be kind to yourself.’ It’s amazing what we [women] do to ourselves. We’re probably all our toughest critics.”

This year, Underwood's stayed busy out on the road for her "Cry Pretty Tour 360," which wrapped up in October. Even though the tour has concluded, the country star still continues to travel throughout the holiday season.

“This year, there’s a lot of travel involved, but that’s kind of our tradition,” she says. “We try to be with all of our family. We want it all. But that’s where we are right now in life is the traveling because we don’t have any family that actually lives near us, so it’s just go, go, go.”
