MAY UNEMPLOYMENT FALLS FOR LOCAL COUNTIES BUT STILL ABOVE STATE AVERAGE

Despite a drop in unemployment rates around the state, local northwest Ohio counties were still above the state average in jobless numbers for May.With the state at 13.7%, Defiance County was highest in the region at 15.8% unemployment.Next was Henry County at 14.3%, followed by Fulton County at 14%.Putnam County was lowest in the area for their May unemployment at 10.5%, while Wood County hit 12.8.The lowest jobless rate in Ohio was Wayne County at 5.1%; and the highest unemployment was Erie County, including Sandusky at 19.9%.Checking local jobless real numbers:Fulton County has 3,100 residents out of work, Defiance County has 2,900, and Henry County is at 1,800 looking for a job.
