NAPOLEON COUNCIL APPROVES CONTRACT FOR NEW SWIMMING POOL CONSTRUCTION

A couple of major projects were nailed-down with contracts by Napoleon City Council Monday night.A first reading was approved on a resolution to contract with Astro Pools for the major parts of the new swimming facility in Napoleon.The company from Mansfield was awarded the bid to install spray features, splash pad equipment, shade structures, and the swimming pool itself.Work will likely begin in September.

And the Glenwood Avenue waterline project was awarded to Hillebrand Construction near Toledo at $512,000.That’s about $2,000 over the engineer’s estimate, with work to be completed this fall.

With the demolition of the swimming pool at Glenwood Park, there’s plenty of waste concrete around Napoleon.Council approved a contract with Geddes Paving of Holland to crush that concrete at $80,000.The left-over material will be utilized in other projects.

Napoleon Council accepted a grant of $500 for the school resource officer to attend school-threat assessment training.

And the question of changing regulations and rates for unlimited pickup and mulch was sent to the Board of Public Affairs and council water and sewer committee for more discussion.
