Gabby Barrett pays tribute to her husband and other men who embrace the cowboy lifestyle in her latest anthem to release as she prepares her highly-anticipated sophomore album. Barrett, who wrote the song with Jon Nite and Jesse Frasure, kicked off the weekend with “Cowboy Back,” debuting the long-awaited track more than a year after she shared a teaser on Instagram.

“I was inspired by my wonderful husband, a Texan, when I was writing this one,” Barrett said in a statement on Friday (October 6). “‘Cowboy Back’ is all about appreciating the hardworking guys out there with strong values – those who are authentically ‘country.’”

Barrett posted the first sneak peek of “Cowboy Back” on September 28, 2022. She confirmed at that time that she was working on Album No. 2 (following Goldmine in 2020 and its deluxe edition in 2021), and asked her fans, “What do you want to hear? Who do you want a duet with?” Earlier this week, Barrett revealed the title of the song and its release date. “Cowboy Back” is Barrett’s latest song to release since “Glory Days,” a heartfelt single that offers an intimate glimpse of life at home with her husband and children.

The country star and her husband, fellow American Idol alum Cade Foehner, celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary one day before Barrett debuted “Cowboy Back,” on Thursday (October 5). Since then, they’ve welcomed two young children — Baylah May and Augustine Booneand announced a third on the way.
