In its second week, “Avengers: Infinity War” not only continues to dominate the box office, but it's also breaking records and surpassing expectations. So far, the movie holds the title for second best, second weekend behind “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” In this weekend alone, its raked in $112.5-million stateside and $162.6-million internationally. Domestically the movie has made $450.8-million and $713.3-million internationally since opening.
It’s also become the fastest movie to break the $1-billion barrier worldwide and the second fastest to reach the $400-million mark domestically. According to “Deadline,” “Infinity Wars” is the number five superhero movie of all time with 2012’s “The Avengers” still at the top of the heap. At the rate this movie is going, it doesn’t seem like the hype is slowing down, but that may change in two weeks when “Deadpool 2” releases on May 18th.
Believe it or not, other movies did premiere this weekend including Anna Faris’ “Overboard” remake and Charlize Theron’s “Tully.” “Overboard” brought in the highest numbers for new releases at $14.8-million with “Tully” trudging behind at $3.2-million.
