The unemployment rate for nearly every county in northwest Ohio fell in the month of August except for one. Defiance County was the only county in the region to have their jobless rate climb to 6%, which is above the state average of 5.4%.Henry County’s rate fell from 5.5 to 5% in August; while Fulton County’s jobless rate lowered even more, from 5.5 to 4.7%. Unemployment in Williams County tumbled from 5.4 to 4.5%, while Paulding County’s rate held nearly steady at 5.3. Putnam County again was lowest in the region for unemployment at 3.7%. Around the Buckeye State, the lowest jobless rate was 3.2% in Holmes County; while the highest unemployment was reported in Meigs and Jefferson Counties at 7.1% in August.
