Dierks Bentley teamed up with Billy Strings and other legendary musicians on his witty new bluegrass anthem from his forthcoming 10th studio album.

“High Note,” a “bluegrass super jam,” also includes Charlie Worsham, Jerry Douglas on dobro, Sam Bush on mandolin and guitar star Bryan Sutton, in addition to Strings, according to a press release announcing Bentley’s latest track. Bentley produced it alongside Ross Copperman, Jon Randall and F. Reid Shippen.

“Bryan Sutton first tipped me off to Billy Strings about seven years ago mentioning that the future of bluegrass was in good hands,” Bentley recalled in a statement as he debuted the song on Friday (November 18). “I was totally blown away the first time I saw him. I’ve cut songs like these since my first record, and I knew I wanted to have him on this one, I’m such a huge fan. It was a lot of fun to have him, Jerry, Sam and Bryan all passing licks around...having them all on this record means a lot to me personally."

“High Note” follows “Gold,” the song that kicked off Bentley’s next era. His highly-anticipated new project is set to release early next year. Bentley previously explained that the whole project is one that will reflect his revived appreciation for country music, which he previously explained happened during the pandemic. That time made him “rest” from music and touring and spend time with family and friends instead.

“2020 was a chance for me to give my guitar and the road a little rest. It gave me the chance to spend a lot more time adventuring outdoors with family and friends, but also alone. It also gave me time to reset and rekindle my love of Country music and a lot of the types of songs and sounds that I fell in love with when I first got to Nashville,” Bentley said in a statement. “I think you’ll hear that in this first track, but it carries across the whole album.”
