Jordan Davis reflected on the moment he knew his sentimental anthem was special, and it means even more to him as a father. The country hitmaker played “Next Thing You Know,” now a smash-hit single, while he was touring with Luke Combs. Though the song had just recently released, the crowd immediately held up illuminated cell phones as Davis performed.

Davis penned “Next Thing You Know” with Greylan James, Chase McGill and Josh Osborne. It pays tribute to some of the most meaningful milestone moments in life, including a heartwarming proposal, the wedding, the honeymoon, welcoming children and more. Davis included the track on hi latest full-lengths album, Bluebird Days, a 17-track project that made its debut earlier this year. The project also included “What My World Spins Around,” “Midnight Crisis” featuring Danielle Bradbery, “Buy Dirt” featuring Luke Bryan and other fan-favorites.

“I think even early on, a month or two into releasing it, fans were kind of chanting for it. I mean, I still remember the first night we played it live on the Luke Combs’ tour, I mean immediately all the cell phones come up,” Davis reflected, per his record label. “That’s a pretty good sign that you have something. I never thought there’d be a song that I would have circled and ready to get to as much as I am when we have ‘Buy Dirt’ at the end of the set, but now this has been a really cool, kind of middle point of the set that we get to, and then you add in the videos that you see on Tik Tok or Instagram of just the way people really kind of grabbed onto this song and put their story to it. ‘Cause you know it is, it’s the progression of life and I think it means even more to me as a dad, and it’s cool to see that connecting with a bunch of parents out there.”

Davis and his wife, Kristen, recently welcomed Baby No. 3, a son named Elijah Patrick. The newborn joins big sister Eloise and big brother Locklan, born in 2019 and 2021, respectively. Davis wrote in an Instagram caption when he announced that is son was born: “God is good! My son Elijah Patrick is in the world…His momma did incredible in getting him here and we hope to get him home to his brother and sister soon.”
