SENTENCES HANDED DOWN IN DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMON PLEAS COURT CASES

 

Defiance County Prosecuting Attorney Morris Murray has announced the release of the following information regarding certain pending Criminal matters:

 

Prosecutor Murray has announced that Noah A. Cox, a 42 year old Defiance man, was sentenced to prison for charges of Domestic Violence and Strangulation, each a Felony of the Third Degree.

 

Noah A. Cox-age 42-Sentenced for Domestic Violence-F3 and Strangulation-F3 to a total of 48 months at ODRC, costs, jail credit for 4 days, TPO dissolved. According to Murray, on July 11, 2024, at his residence on S. Clinton St., in Defiance, Cox caused or attempted to cause physical harm to a family or household member, and he also created a substantial risk of serious physical harm to another by means of strangulation or suffocation. Cox also has two prior domestic violence convictions.

 

THE FOLLOWING PERSONS WERE BROUGHT BEFORE THE DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMON PLEAS COURT FOR ARRAIGNMENT ON FELONY MATTERS:

 

Andrew J. Keber-age 34–Not Guilty pleas, $25,000 cash bond w/10% allowed, pre-trial 4/18/25 @ 9:30 a.m.

 

Betty R. Branham-age 33–Not Guilty plea, OR bond, pre-trial 5/1/25 @ 2:15 p.m.

 

Kandace L. Porthouse-age 29-Not Guilty plea, OR bond, pre-trial 5/7/25 @ 2 p.m.

 

George W. Sisco-age 45-Not Guilty plea, OR bond, pre-trial 5/1/25 @ 9 a.m.

 

Raynaldo F. Garcia-age 51-Not Guilty plea, OR bond, pre-trial 4/30/25 @ 9:15 a.m.

 

Cole J. Reynolds-age 29-Not Guilty plea, $150,000 cash bond w/10% allowed, TPO & No Contact Order, pre-trial 4/22/25 @ 2 p.m.

 

Charles D. Dunten-age 35-Not Guilty plea, OR bond, pre-trial 5/12/25 @ 9:15 a.m.

 

THE FOLLOWING PERSONS HAVE RECENTLY ENTERED GUILTY OR NO CONTEST PLEAS IN THE DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMON PLEAS COURT:

 

Mark J. Yonge-age 66-Guilty plea to Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Drug of Abuse or a Combination of Them-M1, PSI ordered, sentencing 6/6/25 @ 9:30 a.m.

 

Everett D. Mowery-age 43-No Contest pleas to Domestic Violence-F4 and Disrupting Public Services-F4, found Guilty, PSI ordered, sentencing 6/5/25 @ 9:30 a.m.

 

PLEA/SENTENCING:

 

Joseph J. Black-age 53-Guilty plea to Attempted Aggravated Possession of Drugs-M1 and sentenced to serve 90 days at CCNO (report on 5/1/25), jail credit for zero days.

 

THE FOLLOWING PERSONS HAVE RECENTLY BEEN SENTENCED IN THE DEFIANCE COUNTY COMMON PLEAS COURT:

 

Seth M. Okuley-age 27-Sentenced for Aggravated Possession of Drugs-F5 to 6months at ODRC to be served consecutively to the prison term imposed in Case No. 23 CR 15017 for a total of 12 months at ODRC, costs (stayed until defendant is release from prison), jail credit for 62 days. (On November 25, 2022, during a traffic stop on Hotel Dr., in Defiance, Okuley was found in possession of Methamphetamine, a Schedule II drug.)

 

Brittany Wulff-age 36-Sentenced for Attempting to Corrupt Another With Drugs-F3 and Aggravated Possession of Drugs-F5 to 2 years CCS with 48 months at ODRC reserved in the event of a violation of CCS, no bars/alcohol, not obtain/possess/use cannabis or cannabis products, comply with requirements of Job and Family Services as it relates to her children, costs.

Christopher S. Starr-age 39-Sentenced for Strangulation-F4 to 2 years of CCS with 18 months at ODRC reserved in the event of a violation of CCS, no bars/alcohol, no contact (direct or indirect) with victim or victim’s family, not use/possess/consume cannabis products, TPO dissolved, costs. (On September 13, 2024, at his residence on Ronmar Dr., in Defiance, Starr caused or created a substantial risk of physical harm to a person with whom he was in a dating relationship, by means of strangulation or suffocation.)

 

Amy L. Bonner-age 44-Sentenced for Aggravated Possession of Drugs-F5 to 2 years of CCS with 12 months at ODRC reserved in the event of a violation of CCS, no bars/alcohol, costs. (On December 30, 2023, at a residence on Ottawa Ave., in Defiance, Bonner was found in possession of Methamphetamine, a Schedule II drug.)

 

Lee L. Mathys-age 80-Sentenced for Permitting Drug Abuse-M1 to 2 years of probation with 180 days at CCNO suspended in the event of a probation violation, defendant shall not have any individuals reside at his residence w/o express consent of his Supervising Officer, costs. (Mathys allowed his residence to be used for the commission of drug abuse offenses.)
